KAFACI plans to work with IITA in 10 of their member countries in Africa with a focus on training  and the testing  and dissemination of agricultural practices that will boost yield  and improve food security in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_13146\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13146\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1024_DSC_3980_0617.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13146\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1024_DSC_3980_0617-300x224-1.jpg\" alt=\"Picture of Visitors from KAFACI with IITA staff members.\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13146\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Visitors from KAFACI with IITA staff members.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These intentions were disclosed by Cho Gyoung-Rae, Secretary General, KAFACI, during a courtesy visit to IITA last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team was received by Director for Western Africa, <a title=\"Visit Robert Asiedu&apos;s profile page\" href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/asiedu-robert\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert Asiedu<\/a>;  and <a title=\"Visit Alfred Dixon&apos;s profile page\" href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/dixon-alfred\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alfred Dixon<\/a>, Head of Partnerships Coordination Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asiedu welcomed the proposed collaboration,  and promised that the Institute would support KAFACI in its mission to fight hunger  and poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He talked to the visitors about some of IITA\u2019s work on <a title=\"Visit cowpea page on IITA website\" href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/cowpea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cowpea<\/a>, <a title=\"Visit banana  and plantain page on IITA website\" href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/banana- and-plantain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">banana  and plantain<\/a>, <a title=\"Visit yam page on IITA website\" href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/yam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">yam<\/a>, <a title=\"Visit maize page on IITA website\" href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/maize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maize<\/a>,  and <a title=\"Visit soybean page on IITA website\" href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/soybean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">soybean<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dixon, meanwhile, assured the team that IITA will share its expertise on cassava. According to him, the proposed partnership can capitalize on existing IITA varieties developed  and distributed by partners across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The KAFACI team included Kw andal Ko, Director General, National Institute for Horticultural  and Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration, Korea; Babasola Ayodele Adelaja, KAFACI Scientific  and Technology Advisory Council  and Adviser on Horticulture;  and Mayowa Olubiyi, National Center for Genetic Resources  and Biotechnolgy  and KAFACI project investigator <em>(Development of Technology on Conservation of Genetic Resources in Nigeria)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KAFACI is an intergovernmental  and multilateral cooperation body aiming to improve food production, achieve sustainable agriculture,  and enhance the extension services of African countries through knowledge  and information sharing on agricultural technologies.
