he Oyo State Police Chief, CP Udom U. Ekpo. Udom was in IITA, Ibadan on an official visit on the 4 December 2007. The DDG (R4D Support), Dr. Lakshmi Menon, received him and his team. The visitors were later shown a video presentation on major operations of the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Lakshmi Menon expressed her delight for having the Police Chief on an official visit to the Institute and emphasized the cordial working relationship with the Nigerian Police Force and the Institute over the years. She explained the IITA vision of reducing hunger and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa by improving crop varieties that are resistant to pests, diseases and drought, and in addition improving crop varieties that are early maturing and nutritious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CP Udom U. EkpoUdom assured that the Police would not joke with the security situation of IITA and promised to work on requests of the management for more effective Police system in the Institute and environs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Police Chief and his entourage visited the Postharvest Section where Dr. Richardson Okechukwu of the Cassava Improvement program explained some of the research activities on cassava, particularly the various food products derived from cassava. The visitors were also taken round the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
