{"id":13059,"date":"2026-06-20T12:26:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:26:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.iita.org\/news-item\/africas-push-for-green-revolution-demands-improving-soil-fertility\/"},"modified":"2026-06-20T12:26:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:26:18","slug":"africas-push-for-green-revolution-demands-improving-soil-fertility","status":"publish","type":"news-item","link":"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/news-item\/africas-push-for-green-revolution-demands-improving-soil-fertility\/","title":{"rendered":"La pouss\u00e9e de l'Afrique pour une r\u00e9volution verte exige l'am\u00e9lioration de la fertilit\u00e9 des sols"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/newint.iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/image_gallery-37.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9762\" src=\"http:\/\/newint.iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/image_gallery-37.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"250\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a>La volont\u00e9 de d\u00e9clencher une \u201c r\u00e9volution verte \u201d en Afrique pour accro\u00eetre la production agricole en vue de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire et du d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique ne portera gu\u00e8re ses fruits si l'on ne pr\u00eate pas une attention suffisante \u00e0 la gestion de la fertilit\u00e9 des sols sur le continent, d\u00e9clare le Dr Nteranya Sanginga, directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l'Institut international d'agriculture tropicale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c Une gestion solide de la fertilit\u00e9 des sols est essentielle\u2026 Pour la commercialisation du manioc et notre r\u00e9volution verte, nous devons utiliser des engrais \u2013 organiques et inorganiques \u2013 ainsi que des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e0 haut rendement et r\u00e9sistantes aux maladies \u201d, d\u00e9clare Sanginga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Partout en Afrique, l'application actuelle de nutriments pour le sol, qu'il s'agisse d'engrais organiques ou inorganiques, est estim\u00e9e \u00e0 8 kg\/ha. Les chercheurs affirment que ce montant est faible et qu'il constitue l'un des principaux obstacles \u00e0 la vision du continent d'assurer sa propre autosuffisance alimentaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L'Union africaine accepte ce verdict et a appel\u00e9 les pays du continent \u00e0 augmenter l'application de nutriments pour le sol \u00e0 50 kg\/ha de nutriments combinant des engrais organiques et inorganiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S'adressant aux participants du Partenariat mondial pour le manioc \u00e0 Kampala, qui s'ach\u00e8ve vendredi, le Dr Sanginga affirme que l'Afrique ne peut pas parvenir \u00e0 une r\u00e9volution verte sans avoir d'abord une \u2018 r\u00e9volution brune \u2019, un terme qu'il a utilis\u00e9 pour d\u00e9signer l'am\u00e9lioration des conditions du sol gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l'application d'engrais organiques et inorganiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tout en reconnaissant que des investissements importants ont \u00e9t\u00e9 consacr\u00e9s au d\u00e9veloppement de vari\u00e9t\u00e9s de manioc \u00e0 haut rendement r\u00e9sistantes \u00e0 certains des principaux nuisibles et maladies, le DG de l'IITA affirme que les gains obtenus gr\u00e2ce aux travaux de s\u00e9lection ne peuvent se concr\u00e9tiser si ces vari\u00e9t\u00e9s sont cultiv\u00e9es sur des sols pauvres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'il \u00e9tait regrettable que le manioc ait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tiquet\u00e9 pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es comme une culture de pauvre qui ne n\u00e9cessite pas beaucoup d'intrants tels que des engrais. Il a soutenu que cette culture pr\u00e9l\u00e8ve autant de nutriments dans le sol que les autres cultures et que ces nutriments doivent \u00eatre reconstitu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cL'utilisation d'\u00e9l\u00e9ments nutritifs pour le manioc a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s minime, car il est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme la culture du pauvre. Cependant, si nous parlons de la transformation du manioc, d'accro\u00eetre la production de manioc non seulement pour l'alimentation mais aussi pour un usage commercial, nous devons changer ces perceptions erron\u00e9es. Si nous pensons \u00e0 cultiver le manioc dans des sols trop pauvres pour d'autres cultures telles que le ma\u00efs, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9, alors nous passons \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l'autre moiti\u00e9 de l'\u00e9quation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLa fertilit\u00e9 des sols est l'un des maillons manquants dans la lutte pour la commercialisation du manioc. Pour l'instant, les entrepreneurs impliqu\u00e9s dans la transformation du manioc affirment qu'il n'y a pas assez de manioc, tandis que les agriculteurs, en revanche, affirment qu'il n'y a pas de d\u00e9bouch\u00e9s.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le Dr Sanginga a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la population africaine augmentait rapidement, ce qui n\u00e9cessite une production accrue pour nourrir des bouches suppl\u00e9mentaires. Cependant, la croissance d\u00e9mographique entra\u00eene \u00e9galement une p\u00e9nurie de terres pour \u00e9tendre la production ; par cons\u00e9quent, le continent doit intensifier sa production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La production de manioc fait vivre plus de 25% de m\u00e9nages agricoles en Afrique subsaharienne, soit plus de 100 millions de personnes. Au total, plus de 60% de la production mondiale de manioc provient de ce continent, mais les rendements y sont tr\u00e8s faibles, avec une moyenne de 10 tonnes\/ha, contre plus de 40 tonnes\/ha en Asie et en Am\u00e9rique latine, o\u00f9 cette culture est destin\u00e9e \u00e0 un usage commercial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La conf\u00e9rence du Partenariat mondial pour le manioc au 21e si\u00e8cle (GCP21) se d\u00e9roule du 18 au 22 juin 2012 \u00e0 Kampala, en Ouganda. Le GCP21 se compose de 45 institutions membres qui travaillent sur la recherche et le d\u00e9veloppement du manioc, une culture de base dont d\u00e9pendent plus de 700 millions de personnes dans le monde.
