And we are happy the recovery is happening faster than expected,\u201d he said.<\/blockquote><br><figure id=\"attachment_15290\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15290\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DG-Sanginga-speaking-to-IITA-staff-in-Dar-es-Salaam.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15290\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/DG-Sanginga-speaking-to-IITA-staff-in-Dar-es-Salaam-300x182-1.jpg\" alt=\"Picture of DG Sanginga speaking to IITA staff in Dar es Salaam\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15290\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DG Sanginga speaking to IITA staff in Dar es Salaam.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said, for example, the long-awaited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afdb.org\/en\/\">Africa Development Bank<\/a> (AfDB) funded program, Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT), had been approved by the Bank\u2019s board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DG was speaking to the staff  and partners at the IITA-Eastern Africa hub in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, during a two-day official visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also thanked the staff for their patience  and solidarity with the Institute during these challenging times.<br><blockquote>\u201cMy aim during these difficult times is to protect the research  and staff at IITA. You (staff) are our most important asset. I am therefore happy to see that you are still passionate  and dedicated to IITA  and its mission. Be patient  and use the little operational budget allocated to you wisely,\u201d Sanginga advised.<\/blockquote><br>The DG also said overall, he was extremely pleased with the state of the hub  and thanked the management, under the leadership of Hub Director <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/manyong-victor\/\">Victor Manyong<\/a>  and Head of Finance  and Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/odiambo-eveline\/\">Eveline Odiambo<\/a>, for taking good care of the hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that the facilities  and grounds were well maintained, giving a very positive image of the Institute.
