{"id":13894,"date":"2026-06-20T12:40:05","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.iita.org\/news-item\/new-crop-livestock-technologies-to-mitigate-conflict-between-crop-and-livestock-farmers-in-drc\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T21:16:36","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T21:16:36","slug":"new-crop-livestock-technologies-to-mitigate-conflict-between-crop-and-livestock-farmers-in-drc","status":"publish","type":"news-item","link":"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/news-item\/new-crop-livestock-technologies-to-mitigate-conflict-between-crop-and-livestock-farmers-in-drc\/","title":{"rendered":"Nouvelles technologies associant l'agriculture et l'\u00e9levage pour att\u00e9nuer les conflits entre agriculteurs et \u00e9leveurs en RDC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\" class=\"site-content single-content\">\n<div id=\"primary\" class=\"content-area\">\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<article id=\"post-23231\" class=\"post-23231 news-item type-news-item status-publish has-post-thumbnail hentry category-iita-bulletin-news tag-brachiaria-mulato tag-brachiaria-ruziziensis tag-cialca tag-home tag-iita-news-no-2598 tag-picagl news-year-960\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\nPlus de 20 agriculteurs de Katogota et Kamanyola, dans la plaine de la Ruzizi, dans la province du Sud-Kivu, en R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo (RDC), ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 une \u00e9valuation participative d'essais d'association culturale de ma\u00efs et d'herbe Brachiaria.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/\">IITA<\/a>\u00a0organis\u00e9 cette activit\u00e9 le 14 juillet dans le cadre du Projet Int\u00e9gr\u00e9 de Croissance Agricole dans les Grands Lacs (PICAGL) en collaboration avec le projet du Consortium pour l'Am\u00e9lioration des Moyens de Subsistance Bas\u00e9s sur l'Agriculture en Afrique Centrale (CIALCA).\n\nLa s\u00e9ance d'\u00e9valuation intervient environ 10 mois apr\u00e8s l'introduction des syst\u00e8mes ma\u00efs-Brachiaria dans la plaine de la Ruzizi. Le chercheur associ\u00e9 de l'IITA en production animale, Samy Bacigale, a expliqu\u00e9 que la motivation de cette recherche est la raret\u00e9 des aliments pour le b\u00e9tail dans la plaine de la Ruzizi, en particulier pendant la saison s\u00e8che o\u00f9 les \u00e9leveurs de b\u00e9tail optent pour la transhumance \u2014 le pastoralisme migratoire \u2014 \u00e0 la recherche de p\u00e2turages abondants. Les vaches d\u00e9truisent les cultures sur leur passage, ce taux de conflits entre agriculteurs et \u00e9leveurs s'accro\u00eet.\n<figure id=\"attachment_23232\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23232\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23232 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/New-crop-livestock-p1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"411\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23232\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Un agriculteur \u00e9valuant un site d'essai interculturel de ma\u00efs et d'herbe Brachiaria \u00e0 Katogota.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201c Ces syst\u00e8mes associent la culture intercalaire de Brachiaria mulato am\u00e9lior\u00e9 avec du ma\u00efs et du soja afin de subvenir aux besoins alimentaires des humains et du b\u00e9tail tout en pr\u00e9servant la qualit\u00e9 du sol. Ces syst\u00e8mes visent \u00e0 att\u00e9nuer les conflits entre pasteurs et agriculteurs, qui ont un impact n\u00e9gatif sur l'adoption des technologies agricoles \u201d, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Bacigale. \u201c Ces interventions ciblent 600 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires principaux qui transmettront la technologie \u00e0 plus de 3 500 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires secondaires lorsque les membres des organisations d'agriculteurs locaux impliqu\u00e9s dans le projet reproduiront cette technologie sur leurs propres exploitations \u2019, a-t-il poursuivi.\n\n<em>Brachiaria mulato,<\/em>\u00a0qui est promue, a \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9lior\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de souches locales d\u00e9j\u00e0 en d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rescence de\u00a0<strong><em>Brachiaria ruziziensis<\/em><\/strong>, originaire de la plaine de la Ruzizi.\n\nSelon un agronome sp\u00e9cialiste des syst\u00e8mes de production de l'IITA\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/kintche-kokou\/\">Kokou Kintche<\/a>, cette technologie permettra d'am\u00e9liorer la production de ma\u00efs pour nourrir la population et fournir du fourrage pour le b\u00e9tail sans alt\u00e9rer les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques et chimiques du sol.\n\nL'une des b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires du projet PICAGL de Kamanyola, Chakupewa Jacqueline Mugobozi, a accueilli ce nouveau syst\u00e8me ma\u00efs-fourrage \u00e0 bras ouverts, estimant qu'il am\u00e9liorera leur production qui \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 faible en raison du pastoralisme transhumant.\n\n\u201c Cette nouvelle technologie arrive \u00e0 point nomm\u00e9 pour r\u00e9duire les conflits entre \u00e9leveurs et agriculteurs, caus\u00e9s par les animaux errants \u201d, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le secr\u00e9taire de la localit\u00e9 de Katogota, Bagalwa Muhara.\n\nLa m\u00eame activit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9e dans trois autres sites de la plaine de la Ruzizi, \u00e0 savoir Luvungi, Bwegera et Runingu.\n<figure id=\"attachment_23233\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23233\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-23233\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/New-crop-livestock-p2-300x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-23233\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Un veau issu de l'ins\u00e9mination artificielle (IA) \u00e0 Walungu, au Sud-Kivu.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nPour diffuser \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle les technologies agropastorales, l'IITA s'associe \u00e0 V\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire Sans Fronti\u00e8res-Belgique (VSF-B) afin d'introduire des technologies am\u00e9lior\u00e9es d'alimentation du b\u00e9tail et d'am\u00e9liorer les races animales dans l'est de la RDC. Au Sud-Kivu, plus de 600 vaches ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ins\u00e9min\u00e9es artificiellement l'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re et mettent bas actuellement des hybrides Jersey-Ankol\u00e9.
