The commencement was commemorated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/\">IITA<\/a> Nigeria Integrated Agriculture Activity (IITA-NIAA) and Fadhila Crop Science Ltd (FCSL). With the MoU, 200 rice farmers will access seeds and other agricultural inputs for the 2021 dry season farming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_24149\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24149\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24149 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/NIAA-1.jpg\" alt=\"IITA-NIAA Supports 200 Rice Farmers with Inputs\" width=\"820\" height=\"411\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(L-R) Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehab, Reintegration and Humanitarian Service, Adamawa State, Mr Elijah Tumba; Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Mr Usman Yahaya Diyajo; District Head of Yola, Alhaji Mohammed Mustapha; Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Umar Iya Daware; Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Lami Ahmed; Chief Executive Officer, Fadhila Crop Science Ltd., Ms Nanona Usoro; Chief of Party, Nigeria Integrated Agriculture Activity (NIAA), Dr Prakash Kant Silwal; and Deputy Chief of Party (NIAA), Mr Olukayode Faleti after exchanging the signed MoU.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NIAA Chief of Party, Prakash Kant Silwal, expressed profound optimism about the partnership. He charged the farmers to be good recipients of the support, grow more, and pay back the inputs provided in due course. He used the occasion to reiterate the Activity\u2019s efforts to support smallholder farmers in Adamawa and Borno states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her remarks, the FCSL Chief Executive Officer Naona Usoro explained that her organization acknowledges IITA\u2019s global recognition and the Activity\u2019s remarkable performance in the target states. This informed the decision to collaborate. She expects that the partnership will transcend rice farming and extend to cultivating other grains such as maize in subsequent seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24150 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/NIAA-2.jpg\" alt=\"IITA-NIAA Supports 200 Rice Farmers with Inputs\" width=\"820\" height=\"411\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several dignitaries and senior government officials witnessed the ceremony, including the Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Umar Iya Daware; Commissioner for Aquaculture Development, Mr Usman Yahaya Diyajo; Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Lami Ahmed; Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehab, Reintegration, and Humanitarian Service, Mr Elijah Tumba.
