Continuing in this vein, the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Mr Rahman Masudur, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Dilmatara Masudur, visited IITA Headquarters on 2 February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_24172\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24172\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24172 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IITA-to-collaborate-with-Bangladesh-p1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"547\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr Rahman Masudur at Virology Unit during the tour of facilities.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit aimed to explore collaboration opportunities with IITA, focusing on value addition to vegetables in Bangladesh. He also sought to understand the Institute\u2019s collaborations with other countries in South-East Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the tour of facilities, the High Commissioner commended the Institute for their impressive work to ensure food security and safety by guaranteeing plants are protected from any viral disease. \u201cI was able to distinguish between plants infected with a virus and virus-free plants,\u201d he said excitedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_24173\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24173\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-24173\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IITA-to-collaborate-with-Bangladesh-p2-300x200.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24173\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, speaking with the Youth Agripreneurs.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, he explained that since agriculture is the fulcrum of the economy, the Bangladesh government focuses on improving the scale of food production. This will lead to a diverse research portfolio and generate opportunities for the citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The High Commissioner also explained what Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) does. He stated that there could be collaborations between IITA and Bangladesh Premier Research.
