Following the suspension of COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions, the projects held physical meetings in both locations, from 7 to 14 March in Bamako and from 14 to 18 March in Niamey, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_24399\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24399\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24399\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Farmers-and-other-participating-stakeholders-at-the-Mali-workshop.jpg\" alt=\"CSAT projects involve farmers to improve production resilience in Mali and Niger\" width=\"820\" height=\"411\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24399\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Farmers and other participating stakeholders at the Mali workshop. In Mali, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Rural Development, the Director General of the Institute of Rural Economy, and the representative of the Royal Norwegian Embassy all participated in the meetings. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Director General of INRAN, the ICRISAT Country Representative in Niger, and the permanent secretary of CNRA presided over the opening ceremony in Niger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_24398\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24398\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24398\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/An-indigenous-processor-exhibiting-her-products.jpg\" alt=\"CSAT projects involve farmers to improve production resilience in Mali and Niger\" width=\"200\" height=\"265\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24398\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An indigenous processor exhibiting her products during the visit of the participants in her company. Photo credit: Fatoumata Dolo<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collaborators first assessed the projects\u2019 activities in 2021, then set the milestones for 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his opening speech, the Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/\">IITA<\/a> Sahel hub and CSAT Project Coordinator, <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/abdoulaye-tahirou\/\">Tahirou Abdoulaye<\/a>, thanked all the project partners for their excellent collaboration and recalled the good results achieved by the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IITA West Africa Director <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/abberton-michael\/\">Michael Abberton<\/a> expressed appreciation to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway. He also expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved by the project in such a short time. In Niger, he mentioned IITA\u2019s intention to sign an agreement to coordinate its activities better in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A distinction of this year\u2019s meetings was the involvement of farmers, the direct beneficiaries of the projects\u2019 activities, in the planning. Listening to the farmers directly and understanding their expectations would help develop adequate solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the end of this third year, the projects hope to address all topics aimed at facilitating the adoption of technologies to cope with climate change and, by extension, improve life and ensure food security in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_24400\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24400\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24400\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Stakeholders-at-the-workshop.jpg\" alt=\"CSAT projects involve farmers to improve production resilience in Mali and Niger\" width=\"820\" height=\"411\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24400\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stakeholders at the workshop.
