Darracq was accompanied by her colleague Dr Florent Engelmann, who oversees scientific high education at the French Embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_26349\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26349\" style=\"width: 636px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26349 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IITA-p1.jpg\" alt=\"Country representatives and staff of IITA Ghana with the representatives of the French Embassy in Nigeria and Ghana\" width=\"636\" height=\"424\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26349\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Country representatives and staff of IITA Ghana with the representatives of the French Embassy in Nigeria and Ghana<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit of the two French Embassy representatives was to get deep insight into IITA activities in Ghana and explore collaboration opportunities that will promote French companies in Ghana. Darracq explained that the French Embassy collaborates with IITA in Nigeria, and she envisions similar collaboration with IITA in Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IITA Scientist <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/asare-richard\/\">Richard Asare<\/a> introduced IITA-led projects in Ghana, including the BBEST project being implemented in Nsawam; the SSPING project being implemented in Northern Ghana; the Cocoasoils program, which aims to use Integrated Soil Fertility Management System approach for cocoa intensification; AICCRA, which scales climate-smart agriculture technologies to farmers and the Sustainable Intensification of Mixed Farming systems; and CGIAR Excellence in Agronomy initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_26351\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26351\" style=\"width: 635px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26351 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IITA-p2.jpg\" alt=\" Dr Darracq engaging the participants at the meeting on some projects they have implemented in Nigeria.\" width=\"635\" height=\"423\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26351\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Darracq engaging the participants at the meeting on some projects they have implemented in Nigeria.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further discussions centered around agribusiness and agripreneurship, agriculture products\u2019 value chains, youth and women capacity building, internship programs for trained youth in agribusiness, the Master Card sponsorship program, and the best ways to foster collaboration between the French Embassy and IITA Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asare explained that IITA has an excellent relationship with Ghana\u2019s Ministry of Food and Agriculture due to several years of collaborating on different projects and IITA\u2019s efforts to align with the government\u2019s vision for agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Darracq commended the AICCRA project\u2019s work on gender and youth inclusion and a planned incubation program. She also hailed the Aflasafe work with maize and groundnut farmers and expressed the embassy\u2019s willingness to explore projects on maize and groundnut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_26350\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26350\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" Room<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emphasizing the French Embassy\u2019s commitment to collaborations on scientific research, Engelmann indicated that the appointment of a scientist as France\u2019s ambassador to Ghana had paved the way for partnerships with institutions like IITA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Darracq asked IITA to
