The MRDR test assesses the vitamin A status of people. Participants from Nigeria\u2019s six geopolitical zones were trained to carry out the test on the field during a one-week training workshop facilitated by Principal Investigator\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/mercy-lungaho\/\">Mercy Lung\u2019aho<\/a>\u00a0at Rockview Classic Hotel, Abuja, on 2\u20138 August. Lead Investigator\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/maziya-dixon-busie\/\">Busie Maziya-Dixon<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/\">IITA<\/a> jointly coordinated the training with Lung\u2019aho and co-Principal Investigator Prof. Rasaki Sanusi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_27306\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27306\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27306\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/vitamin-A-status-p1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Field teams giving a dose of vitamin A to the respondent (WRA) in the pilot.\" width=\"820\" height=\"411\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27306\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Field teams giving a dose of vitamin A to the respondent (WRA) in the pilot.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Olapeju Phorbee, Dietary Intake Lead for the National Food Consumption and Micro-Nutrient Survey (NFCMS), appreciated the participants for successful data collection in the first, second, and third phases of NFCMS. Lung\u2019aho explained the reason for data verification and highlighted the three exclusion criteria to be observed in MRDR: severe anemia, severe malnutrition, and fever on the day of dosing. The participants sorted and reviewed samples collected from the NFCMS according to the different Enumeration Areas (EA) and updated their movement plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_27307\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27307\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\"
