The collaboration agreement signed on 26 January aims to strengthen existing ties and pave the way for future joint initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><figure id=\"attachment_27850\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27850\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27850\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IITA-and-FUTA-representatives-discussing-the-partnership-formalization.jpg\" alt=\"IITA and FUTA representatives discussing the partnership formalization.\" width=\"820\" height=\"411\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27850\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">IITA and FUTA representatives discussing the partnership formalization.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the signing ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, <a href=\"https:\/\/vc.futa.edu.ng\/\">Prof. Adenike Temidayo Oladiji<\/a>, emphasized the significance of formalizing the collaboration, citing the university&#8217;s need for technical expertise and academic building. She expressed her appreciation for IITA&#8217;s resources, which had been instrumental, even during her academic pursuits, and voiced confidence in IITA&#8217;s capacity to contribute to FUTA&#8217;s academic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, IITA Deputy Director General, Partnerships for Delivery (DDG-P4D), <a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/dashiell-kenton\/\">Kenton Dashiell<\/a>, underscored the importance of the MoU in strengthening the relationship between the two institutions. He highlighted the commitment of IITA to nurturing the partnership and fostering its growth in the years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Head of IITA Bioscience Unit and Genetic Resources Center (GRC), <a href=\"https:\/\/bioscience.iita.org\/team-member\/michael-abberton\/\">Michael Abberton<\/a>, highlighted the collaborative efforts that already existed between IITA and FUTA through FUTA&#8217;s representative <a href=\"https:\/\/itu.futa.edu.ng\/home\/2488\">Prof. Benjamin Oluwole Akinyele<\/a>, particularly in training students and conducting laboratory operations. She reiterated FUTA&#8217;s commitment to maintaining an active and fruitful collaboration with IITA, pledging to ensure that the partnership yields tangible benefits for both institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Formalizing the partnership between IITA and FUTA marks a significant milestone in advancing agricultural research and capacity building in Africa.
