IITA Board Member,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/board-member\/shuichi-asanuma\/\">Dr Shuichi Asanuma<\/a><u>,<\/u>\u00a0and Yam Agronomist,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/matsumoto-ryo\/\">Dr Ryo Matsumoto<\/a><u>,<\/u>\u00a0completed the IITA delegation.\n<div id=\"attachment_5184\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5184\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DG Sanginga giving a keynote address. Photo by JIRCAS.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\nMr Yoshihisa Hishinuma, Director-General, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries Research Council Secretariat, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jircas.go.jp\/en\">Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences<\/a>\u00a0(JIRCAS) President, Dr Masaru Iwanaga, received the team along with the Director Generals of other CGIAR centers and SDG C\/A. DG Sanginga used the opportunity to express appreciation for their strong support of the Yam and Cowpea improvement programs in IITA.\n\nAt MoFA, discussions were held on future cooperation, including capacity development of young Japanese to IITA.\n\nSanginga also attended several other meetings with representatives of Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), Japan international Cooperation Agency (JICA), and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jst.go.jp\/global\/english\/\">JST-SATREPS Group<\/a>\u00a0to develop new partnerships for food security in Africa. According to Dr Sanginga, \u201cIncorporating Japan\u2019s technology and dissemination program is a very effective means for agricultural development in African countries. It is also very important to build a win-win relationship.
