{"id":15883,"date":"2026-06-20T12:47:23","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.iita.org\/news-item\/africa-rising-learning-event-2019-participants-reflections-and-takeaways\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T20:27:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T20:27:45","slug":"africa-rising-learning-event-2019-participants-reflections-and-takeaways","status":"publish","type":"news-item","link":"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/news-item\/africa-rising-learning-event-2019-participants-reflections-and-takeaways\/","title":{"rendered":"Africa RISING Learning Event 2019: Participants reflections and takeaways"},"content":{"rendered":"Partners from six project countries converged in Malawi on 5\u20138 February for the Africa RISING Program Learning Event 2019.\u00a0The goal of the annual meet was for partners to synthesize valuable lessons learnt in the previous year and harness them for improved project implementation this year.\n<div id=\"attachment_4495\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4495\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Participants-reflections-p01.jpg\" alt=\"Annet Mutema International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Africa RISING Ethiopian Highlands Project\" width=\"820\" height=\"547\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4495\" \/>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-4495\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Annet Mutema\nInternational Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Africa RISING Ethiopian Highlands Project<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\nThe meeting brought together Africa RISING scientists, researchers, and communications specialists from Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Tanzania, and Zambia to assess the project\u2019s implementation experiences, knowledge gained, and products generated in the different regions.\n\nMixing a regular workshop format with field visits to Africa RISING activity sites in Malawi, this year\u2019s learning event focused on three primary topics: (i) experiences with implementation of the Sustainable Intensification Assessment Framework (SIAF), (ii) systems research for agriculture in practice, and (iii) common understanding of terminologies used within the Africa RISING program.\n\nAt the end of the event, the communications team caught up with a few of the participants to get insights into their key takeaways from the event.
