The NZHF is chaired by His Excellency, Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.\u00a0<\/span>\n

IITA Deputy Director General, Partnerships for Delivery, Kenton Dashiell, giving a presentation.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\nThe three-member team led by Myrta\u00a0Kaulard, WFP Country Director, accompanied by Akeem\u00a0Ajibola, Safety Nets and Livelihoods Officer; and\u00a0Tundji\u00a0Sonoiki, Vulnerability Assessment and Mapping Officer, was received by the Deputy Director General, Partnerships for Delivery,\u202fKenton Dashiell<\/a>;\u00a0and the Director of the Development and Delivery Office,\u00a0Alfred Dixon<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n\nIn his welcome remarks, Dashiell expressed his delight on how the partnership would support and elevate the standard of living of people in the targeted states:\u00a0Benue,\u00a0Borno, Ebonyi, Kebbi, Ogun,\u00a0and\u00a0Sokoto. He said, \u201cThe partnership between IITA and WFP is essential to improve food security through the promotion of sustainable agriculture. It also brings us closer to a zero-hunger world,\u00a0rapid economic growth, and increased\u00a0agricultural productivity.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\n\nStating the purpose of their visit,\u00a0Kaulard\u00a0applauded IITA for its innovative research and delivery that has lifted millions\u00a0of farmers out of poverty and emphasized the need to put in more effort as a team to achieve a common goal. She said, \u201cSpecifically, we came to discuss and draw a road map on how WFP could support IITA in its fight for zero hunger in Nigeria and beyond. This is also vital as the WFP in Nigeria is faced with the incredible challenge of reducing food importation and ensuring special access to nutrition, especially for children and pregnant women.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n\nThe goals\u00a0of the\u00a0NZHF\u00a0not only\u00a0include\u00a0the elimination of hunger among Nigerians but improvement in\u00a0their standard\u00a0of living\u00a0through an implementable agenda and network of agricultural programs and activities. \u201cWorking substantially together with an institution like IITA to succeed\u00a0in our target of ending hunger and poverty across the entire country is fundamental and key to ensuring a better livelihood and creating an enabling environment for all,\u201d\u00a0Kaulard\u00a0stated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n\nThe visit of the WFP team and\u00a0collaboration\u00a0with IITA would further consolidate the gains achieved by the NZHF in Nigeria since it started in 2017.\u00a0<\/span>\n\nDashiell\u00a0further\u00a0commended the work of WFP in Nigeria and the collaboration between the two institutions.\u00a0\u201cAs the NZHF pledges to end hidden hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition,\u00a0and sustainable agriculture,\u00a0I am optimistic that the mutual partnership between IITA\u00a0and WFP would contribute to a greater attainment of our mission, which is to help the most vulnerable people to get out of poverty and malnutrition and move into prosperity and good health,\u201d\u00a0he said.\u00a0<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
