{"id":16564,"date":"2026-06-20T12:51:53","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:51:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.iita.org\/news-item\/worlds-biggest-fragrance-and-flavor-company-seeks-collaboration\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T19:15:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T19:15:54","slug":"worlds-biggest-fragrance-and-flavor-company-seeks-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"news-item","link":"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/news-item\/worlds-biggest-fragrance-and-flavor-company-seeks-collaboration\/","title":{"rendered":"World\u2019s biggest fragrance and flavor company seeks collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoping to boost production at its newly established facility in Nigeria, representatives from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.firmenich.com\/en_INT\/index.html\"><u>Firmenich<\/u><\/a>\u00a0visit\u00e9\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/\"><u>IITA<\/u><\/a>\u00a0Ibadan, on 9 October, to share knowledge, exchange ideas, discuss possibilities, and seek future collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Firmenich-team-with-DDGs-R4D-third-from-right-and-P4D-right.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2900\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Firmenich-team-with-DDGs-R4D-third-from-right-and-P4D-right.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"879\" height=\"536\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A team of six led by Thoger Larsen, Firmenich Flavor Vice President, India and East Africa, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Flory_Kimvangu\"><u>Flory Kimvangu<\/u><\/a>, successor to\u00a0<u>Oddvar Bjorge<\/u>, General Manager, and Commercial Director West Africa, was received by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/dashiell-kenton\/\"><u>Kenton Dashiell<\/u><\/a>,\u00a0IITA Deputy Director General, Partnerships for Delivery, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/saethre-may-guri\/\"><u>May-Guri Saethre<\/u><\/a>, IITA Deputy Director General, Research for Development. Dashiell welcomed the delegates and assured them of unending commitment and partnership. \u201cIITA as a leading research institute can partner with your organization, to help identify possible ways of sourcing raw materials, for efficient production in the new state-of-the-art flavors facility, in Lagos, Nigeria. But if you source locally, and you like what you are seeing, then you can go for it without our intervention,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While conducting the visitors round\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/tag\/business-incubation-platform\/\"><u>IITA Business Incubation Platform (BIP)<\/u><\/a>\u00a0facilities, which includes the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/aflasafe.com\/aflasafe\/\"><u>Aflasafe<\/u><\/a>\u2122\u00a0(a biocontrol product for controlling aflatoxins) production plant,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.n2africa.org\/content\/nodumax-2015\"><u>NoduMax<\/u><\/a>, a soybean inoculum fertilizer, and IITA Youth Agripreneurs (<u><a href=\"https:\/\/youthagripreneurs.org\/\">IYA<\/a>)<\/u>, a community of vibrant youth who are attracted to agriculture, Thoger was amazed at the impact of IITA\u2019s research. \u201cI applaud the management for a good job and I<br>am convinced that my team and I are satisfied by what we have seen\u2026our mission of coming to IITA cannot be in vain,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Concurring, Flory expressed, \u201cWe have spent over a year trying to establish solid ground in Nigeria with the right partners, but now we have found one\u2026With what I have seen, I am guaranteed that with the help of IITA we will exceed our expectations\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On that note, the Firmenich team pledged to revisit IITA to further cement their relationship and solidify a partnership.
