The training, titled \u201cLeading and managing people for results\u201d was organized by the Human Resources team in collaboration with the Capacity Development Office with 23 staff member-participants.\n<div id=\"attachment_2884\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 1019px\">\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Lilian-Mendoza-introducing-course-to-participants.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2884\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Lilian-Mendoza-introducing-course-to-participants.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1019\" height=\"621\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2884\" \/><\/a>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2884\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lilian Mendoza introducing course to participants.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\nIn her opening remarks, the Deputy Director General, Corporate Services,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/koper-hilde\/\">Hilde Koper<\/a>, advised participants to be as transparent as glass when dealing and working with staff and to create a good succession plan as managers and supervisors. \u201cAs a leader, do not assume that you have the answers to everything; accept correction because it gives room for improvement,\u201d Koper said.\n<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/iita-staff\/mendoza-lilian\/\">Lillian Mendoza<\/a>, Head, HRS, encouraged the participants to make maximum use of the opportunity to learn and apply the knowledge gained to their work. She stated: \u201cDuring this training, you should be open-minded, and bring out the issues\nthat affect you and your staff for discussion as this will ease any tension off.\u201d She went on to introduce the course which cut across IITA HR policies, procedures, systems, values, mission, vision, and norms.\nThe aim of the leadership and management workshop was to strengthen participants\u2019 management and leadership to influence and motivate their staff to achieve exceptional performance.\nThe training was very interactive and participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers. The participants were able to evaluate their leadership skills based on the new knowledge acquired.
