Fotso gave a brief presentation of the ongoing research at IITA-Cameroon as well as results obtained. He emphasized on the new cassava varieties released by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IITA<\/a>\u00a0to boost cassava production in Cameroon in the framework of the Agriculture Investment and Market Development Project (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/projects\/P143417?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PIDMA<\/a>) as well as the biofortified cassava under multiplication.\n\nHe also gave explanations on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bioscience.iita.org\/index.php\/en\/services\/tissue-culture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>in vitro<\/em><\/a>\u00a0process of producing healthy suckers of banana and plantain.\n<div id=\"attachment_1003\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Opt_2_cameroon.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1003 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Opt_2_cameroon.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 524px) 100vw, 524px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Opt_2_cameroon.jpg 524w, https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Opt_2_cameroon-300x194-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Opt_2_cameroon-450x291.jpg 450w\" alt=\"Picture of agricultural produce displayed at the IITA stand\" width=\"524\" height=\"339\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1003\" \/><\/a>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-1003\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Agricultural produce displayed at the IITA stand.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\nThe governor and his team was impressed at what they saw and learned at the IITA-Cameroon exhibition stand, and encouraged the staff present there to continue disseminating the institute\u2019s research findings for the betterment of Cameroonian farmers.\n\nThe IITA-Cameroon exhibition stand received more than a hundred visitors, with staff responding to various queries about the products on display as well as research work being conducted by the institute. Visitors included farmers, students from the different agri-schools, agricultural researchers and consultants, businesspersons, and representatives of farmer organizations. Most the visitors expressed interest in obtaining planting materials of improved varieties of crops being worked on by IITA. They were also informed about the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.promusa.org\/Bunchy+top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banana Bunchy Top disease<\/a>\u00a0that occurs in the region.
