{"id":17392,"date":"2026-06-20T12:56:55","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:56:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.iita.org\/news-item\/what-about-climate-change-and-coffee-production\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T17:33:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T17:33:12","slug":"what-about-climate-change-and-coffee-production","status":"publish","type":"news-item","link":"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/news-item\/what-about-climate-change-and-coffee-production\/","title":{"rendered":"Qu'en est-il du changement climatique et de la production de caf\u00e9 ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Une \u00e9tude novatrice men\u00e9e en Tanzanie a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 des chiffres quantifiant l'impact que des d\u00e9cennies de changement climatique ont eu sur la production de caf\u00e9, montrant que l'augmentation des temp\u00e9ratures nocturnes est la principale cause climatique de la diminution des rendements de caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-835\" src=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/coffee-girl.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/coffee-girl.jpg 600w, https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/coffee-girl-300x200-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iita.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/coffee-girl-450x300.jpg 450w\" alt=\"coffee-girl\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alors que les scientifiques pr\u00e9disaient depuis longtemps que la production mondiale de\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.illy.com\/wps\/wcm\/connect\/en\/coffee\/coffee-plant\">Coffea arabica<\/a>\u00a0les esp\u00e8ces souffriraient du changement climatique, cette \u00e9tude est la premi\u00e8re \u00e0 r\u00e9v\u00e9ler des chiffres montrant que le changement climatique affecte d\u00e9j\u00e0 la production de C. arabica avec des projections futures de r\u00e9ductions s\u00e9v\u00e8res de la productivit\u00e9 si des strat\u00e9gies d'adaptation agricole ad\u00e9quates ne sont pas mises en place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour \u00e9valuer l'impact du changement climatique sur la production de C. arabica en Tanzanie, des chercheurs de l'IITA, de l'Universit\u00e9 du Witwatersrand, en Afrique du Sud, de l'Ouganda et de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ciat.cgiar.org\/\">Centre international d'agriculture tropicale<\/a>\u00a0(CIAT), en Colombie, a analys\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie de donn\u00e9es de production et climatiques pour les principales r\u00e9gions de culture de C. arabica dans les hautes terres du nord et du sud de la Tanzanie pour les ann\u00e9es comprises entre 1961 et 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les chiffres de temp\u00e9rature mensuelle et de pluviom\u00e9trie quotidienne pour les phases les plus importantes du d\u00e9veloppement du caf\u00e9ier ont \u00e9t\u00e9 analys\u00e9s afin de d\u00e9terminer quels facteurs climatiques avaient le plus d'impact sur la production de caf\u00e9. Les chercheurs ont \u00e9galement cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 identifier les moments cl\u00e9s du d\u00e9veloppement du caf\u00e9ier o\u00f9 l'impact d'un facteur climatique d\u00e9termine le rendement et la productivit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les r\u00e9sultats de l'\u00e9tude publi\u00e9e dans le Journal of Agricultural and Forest Meteorology montrent que l'augmentation de la temp\u00e9rature nocturne (minimale) a \u00e9t\u00e9 le facteur climatique le plus significatif d\u00e9terminant le rendement et la production du caf\u00e9. Bien que des tendances \u00e0 la hausse de la temp\u00e9rature moyenne aient \u00e9t\u00e9 observ\u00e9es entre 1960 et 2010, cette hausse a \u00e9t\u00e9 principalement motiv\u00e9e par des augmentations substantielles des temp\u00e9ratures minimales journali\u00e8res de +0,31 oC\/d\u00e9cennie. Chaque augmentation de 1 oC de la temp\u00e9rature minimale a entra\u00een\u00e9 une perte de rendement de \uf02d137 \u00b1 16,87 kg\/ha. Les pr\u00e9cipitations, en revanche, n'ont affect\u00e9 les rendements que lorsqu'il y a eu plus de jours de pluie pendant la saison de floraison du caf\u00e9ier, entra\u00eenant des pertes de seulement \uf02d1,58 kg\/ha. L'impact observ\u00e9 de la pluie, associ\u00e9 aux augmentations prononc\u00e9es des temp\u00e9ratures minimales enregistr\u00e9es pendant la floraison (+0,35 oC\/d\u00e9cennie) et la maturation (+0,30 oC\/d\u00e9cennie), indique que les rendements sont le plus fortement influenc\u00e9s par les r\u00e9actions aux actions climatiques pendant les saisons de croissance et de floraison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si ces tendances se poursuivent sans strat\u00e9gies d'adaptation proactives pour la production de caf\u00e9, les rendements devraient chuter encore davantage \u00e0 mesure que les temp\u00e9ratures augmentent. Les pr\u00e9visions du mod\u00e8le indiquent que les rendements moyens du caf\u00e9 chuteront respectivement \u00e0 244 \u00b1 41 kg\/ha et 145 kg\/ha d'ici 2030 et 2060.
