Andreas Gisel brings a live cassava plant for his poster presentation.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\nThe NRM research highlights presented included\u00a0household analyses and consequences for integrated soil fertility management (ISFM)<\/a>\u00a0by Piet van Asten, progress on\u00a0cassava agronomy<\/a>\u00a0by Christine Kreye,\u00a0advancements in soil microbiology<\/a>\u00a0by Danny Coyne,\u00a0progress on legume intensification<\/a>\u00a0by Theresa Ampadu-Boakye, and\u00a0cocoa and coffee intensification and conservation<\/a>\u00a0by Richard Asare. The presentations were preceded by an overview of IITA\u2019s NRM strategy and implementation by Vanlauwe.\n\nVanlauwe also emphasized the importance of fitting together IITA\u2019s research work not only within individual programs but also across the different programs. \u201cOur NRM work\u2014just like the work being carried out in the other programs\u2014should dovetail into each other. We are already midway through our 2012\u22122020 institutional strategy and there is still a lot of work to do. However, echoing what the DG said regarding working together as a football team, we all need to do our part to achieve our overall mission and vision.
