Ce ravageur envahissant, le CRP, menace les palmiers dattiers et les moyens de subsistance au Moyen-Orient, en Afrique du Nord et au-del\u00e0.\n\nLe Consortium pour la lutte contre le charan\u00e7on rouge du palmier (C4RPWC), officiellement lanc\u00e9 lors de la prestigieuse <em>Prix international Khalifa pour le dattier et l'innovation agricole<\/em> c\u00e9r\u00e9monie \u00e0 Abou Dabi le 16 avril 2025, rassemble des partenaires scientifiques mondiaux dans un effort coordonn\u00e9 pour lutter contre le charan\u00e7on rouge du palmier gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l'innovation, \u00e0 la collaboration et \u00e0 la mise \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle. Ces nouvelles technologies visent \u00e0 fournir des strat\u00e9gies de lutte antiparasitaire durables et pr\u00e9cises, en particulier pour les r\u00e9gions o\u00f9 le charan\u00e7on rouge du palmier s'est av\u00e9r\u00e9 le plus destructeur.\n\nS'exprimant sur le r\u00f4le de l'IITA, le Dr Leena Tripathi, directrice du p\u00f4le de l'IITA pour l'Afrique de l'Est et responsable du programme de biotechnologie, a soulign\u00e9 l'importance de tirer parti de la biotechnologie dans les strat\u00e9gies de lutte int\u00e9gr\u00e9e contre les ravageurs :\n\n\u201c Les innovations biotechnologiques nous offrent la possibilit\u00e9 de s'attaquer \u00e0 la racine du probl\u00e8me en ciblant la constitution g\u00e9n\u00e9tique et les processus biologiques du charan\u00e7on. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des approches telles que l'\u00e9dition g\u00e9nomique, l'interf\u00e9rence ARN et la manipulation du g\u00e9nome des plantes pour renforcer la r\u00e9sistance, nous pouvons d\u00e9velopper des solutions durables, pr\u00e9cises et respectueuses de l'environnement.
