Ce partenariat, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 prolong\u00e9 de cinq ans, souligne une vision commune pour relever les d\u00e9fis r\u00e9gionaux critiques, en particulier dans les domaines de l'agriculture et de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avec une superficie de production de pr\u00e8s de 670 000 hectares, selon&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/home\/en\">FAO<\/a>, La Tanzanie est le deuxi\u00e8me plus grand producteur de bananes d&#x27;Afrique de l&#x27;Est. La banane, et plus particuli\u00e8rement les bananes plantains des hautes terres, le matooke et le mchare, constituent des aliments de base, notamment dans les r\u00e9gions de Kagera, Mbeya et du Kilimandjaro. Compte tenu de leur importance mais de leurs faibles rendements, qui ne repr\u00e9sentent qu&#x27;environ 10 \u00e0 15 % de leur potentiel en raison des ravageurs, des maladies et de pratiques culturales inad\u00e9quates, l&#x27;IITA investit dans la recherche sur la banane en Tanzanie depuis 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depuis la signature initiale du protocole d'accord (MoU) en&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/news-item\/iita-nm-aist-strengthen-partnership-agric-research-tanzania\/\">2014<\/a>, le NM-AIST a accueilli le programme de s\u00e9lection de bananes \u00e0 cuire des hauts plateaux de l'IITA. Le premier programme de s\u00e9lection de bananes en Tanzanie. Ce programme vise \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s am\u00e9lior\u00e9es et \u00e0 haut rendement de la banane \u00e0 cuire des hauts plateaux d'Afrique de l'Est et du Mchare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le NM-AIST fournit un soutien essentiel, notamment des espaces de bureau, l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des laboratoires et des champs d'essai pour la recherche sur le bananier. IITA\u2019s banana breeding program in Tanzania is based at the NM-AIST campus, which benefits from excellent physical facilities, including tissue, molecular, and pathology laboratories, and 12 hectares of fully irrigated fields.Low yields due to pests and diseases are addressed through breeding, awareness, and eradication campaigns for banana bunchy top virus (BBTV)-infected plants, and improved agronomy.
