{"id":11688,"date":"2026-06-09T18:21:04","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T18:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.iita.org\/staff\/coyne-daniel\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T18:21:04","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T18:21:04","slug":"coyne-daniel","status":"publish","type":"staff","link":"https:\/\/iita.org\/fr\/staff\/coyne-daniel\/","title":{"rendered":"Coyne, Daniel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"s4\">Danny Coyne has <\/span><span class=\"s4\">spent his working life in tropical agricultural research and development with <\/span><span class=\"s4\">over 30 years<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2019<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">in-depth experience of working with a range of important tropical food crops<\/span><span class=\"s4\">. This includes<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> banana and plantain, cassava, maize, rice, yam, as well as the intensive peri-urban vegetable systems<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, primarily with smallholder farmers, at both the national program and international research levels. With specialization in plant nematology, his experience extends <\/span><span class=\"s4\">however, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">to the microbiome and soil health aspects<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> in general<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, especially <\/span><span class=\"s4\">in relation to <\/span><span class=\"s4\">pest and disease interactions<\/span><span class=\"s4\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> biologically based control<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> options<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">et<\/span><span class=\"s4\">regenerative agricultural practices<\/span><span class=\"s4\">. <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Il<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> has been <\/span><span class=\"s4\">with<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> IITA <\/span><span class=\"s4\">since 2001<\/span><span class=\"s4\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> working across the African continent<\/span><span class=\"s4\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> although he has been physically based in Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania and currently in Kenya.
