Amah is the <a href=\"https:\/\/prossiva.iita.org\/\">PROSSIVA<\/a> coordinator and plantain breeder at IITA. Her academic qualifications include a B.Sc. &amp; an M.Sc. in Microbiology (University of Buea, Cameroon); and a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding (University of the Free State, South Africa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She has several years of multidisciplinary experience working with collaborators on plantain\/banana germplasm characterization, hybrid development, evaluation, propagation and distribution, with research outputs published in peer reviewed journals. She is highly skilled in seed production techniques for vegetatively propagated crops and has contributed to established plant tissue culture laboratories and propagation facilities for research and commercial production across Africa. She currently leads innovative research aiming to deliver pragmatic, sustainable, scalable solutions to seed system bottlenecks for vegetatively propagated crops (banana\/plantain, cassava, sweet potato, yam) and fosters collaborations to facilitate scaling. She also oversees the implementation of modern breeding techniques for plantain improvement in collaboration with West and Central Africa breeding network partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to her current role, she was Regional Breeding Manager for the Plantain and Banana Improvement Program in IITA-Nigeria (2012-2022). She was previously a Research Associate in IITA-Cameroon (2009-2012) where she started off as a Research Assistant (2002-2009) for the Starchy Crops Improvement Program.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delphine M.
