His background is in soil science, soil biology and food crop agronomy as well as the agronomy of perennials such as cocoa in the humid forest zones of Nigeria, Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He formally established IITA in DR Congo and where he conducted a large scale academic training program for the Congolese national agricultural research system (INERA). Since 1988, I have worked in West Africa in soil science and agronomy. Currently, I am a tree crop system agronomist focusing on cocoa across all West African cocoa-producing countries.
