She holds a Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degree in Horticulture from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, as well as a PhD in Plant Pathology with a minor in Entomology from Louisiana State University. With over a decade of experience, her work focuses on arthropod vectors of plant viruses and the dynamics of virus transmission. Her research includes pest and disease surveillance, molecular diagnostic tools for pest characterization, and innovative methods for managing whiteflies, which are vectors of begomoviruses and ipomoviruses. She emphasizes the development of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) package through studies on botanical oils, entomopathogenic fungi, soft chemical pesticides, and host resistance.
