She holds a <\/span><span class=\"s13\">BSc in Crop Science<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> from Delta State University and <\/span><span class=\"s13\">MSc<\/span><span class=\"s13\"> in Crop protection and Environmental Biology<\/span><span class=\"s14\">. She obtained her <\/span><span class=\"s15\">PhD in Plant breeding<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> from the University of Ghana, Accra<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> in 2017<\/span><span class=\"s14\">. <\/span><span class=\"s14\">She was a Norman Borlaug Leap Fellow where she served as a visiting scientist in Cornell University, USA <\/span><span class=\"s14\">from 2014 to 2015<\/span><span class=\"s14\">.<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s14\">Elohor also holds the position of Vegetative Seed Specialist with IITA<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> BIP-<\/span><span class=\"s14\">GoSeed.<\/span> <span class=\"s14\">She currently leads the Development of Early Generation Seed Enterprises Component of the <\/span><span class=\"s15\">BASICS-II<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> project and <\/span><span class=\"s14\">GoSeed <\/span><span class=\"s14\">yam component of the <\/span><span class=\"s12\">Program for Seed System Innovation for Vegetatively propagated crops in Africa <\/span><span class=\"s13\">(PROSSIVA)<\/span><span class=\"s12\"> Project. <\/span><span class=\"s14\">She <\/span><span class=\"s14\">work<\/span><span class=\"s14\">ed<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> with the <\/span><span class=\"s14\">Y<\/span><span class=\"s14\">am Improvement for Incomes and Food Security in West Africa <\/span><span class=\"s15\">(YIIFSWA)<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> project where she buil<\/span><span class=\"s14\">t<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> and implement<\/span><span class=\"s14\">ed<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> models for commercialization of early generation seeds in yams using novel technologies. <\/span><span class=\"s14\">She<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> works with the cassava breeding program to<\/span><span class=\"s14\">contribute to <\/span><span class=\"s14\">several<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> cassava breeding <\/span><span class=\"s14\">projects <\/span><span class=\"s14\">and seed systems components of different projects<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> and programs<\/span> <span class=\"s14\">like NextGen, HarvestPlus, GIZ etc. <\/span><span class=\"s14\">She also contributed to the development and \u00a0release of <\/span><span class=\"s14\">four<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> cassava varieties in 202<\/span><span class=\"s14\">0 and 2021<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> et<\/span><span class=\"s14\"> has strong skills in analytical science, project management and implementation.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elohor Mercy Diebiru-Ojo is an Associate Specialist, Seed Systems.
