Steven Michael Cole obtained his PhD in Biological Anthropology from the University of Arizona. He also holds a MSc degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics and a BSc in Health and Nutrition. Since obtaining his PhD, he has worked in the CGIAR for WorldFish (2013-2019) and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) (2019 to present). He was the Gender Research Coordinator for IITA from 2019-2024 and served on the Management Committee of the CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform during most of this period. He led the Work Package on Gender Transformative Approaches for the CGIAR Gender Equality Initiative from 2022-2024 and provided gender integration technical support to the following Initiatives: Excellence in Agronomy, Aquatic Foods, and the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Initiative. He will lead the Sub-Area of Work on Fostering Equitable and Inclusive Norms in the new CGIAR Gender Equality and Inclusion Accelerator. He has also led numerous bilateral projects in Zambia, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sierra Leone during his tenure in the CGIAR. His research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand the social and gender dynamics in agricultural contexts in low-income countries. He has extensive experience designing and piloting transformative approaches to overcome gender inequalities in agricultural development outcomes.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
