He was the Coordinator of the TAAT Rice Compact (2020-2023) at AfricaRice. He is a seed scientist and holds a B.Sc. degree in Crop Science from the University of Ghana (1979-1981); an M.Sc. in Seed Science and Technology, from Mississippi State University, USA, (1984-1986), and a Ph.D. in Seed Physiology from University of Aberdeen, Scotland, (1992-1996).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Ernest earlier worked with the CSIR\u2013Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI), Ghana (1981-2006), rose to the position of Chief Research Scientist, headed the Seed and Biotechnology Division and was the Counterpart Coordinator for the GIZ-funded West Africa Seed Development Unit (1996 to 2004).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">At CORAF, he was the Cereals Network Coordinator (2006-2007), the Manager for the Staple Crops Program (2007-2012), the Chief of the Party for West Africa Seed Program (WASP; 2012-2017), and the Manager for the Partnership for Agricultural Research and Education (PAIRED; 2017-2018). He led the implementation of the ECOWAS-UEMOA-CILSS Seed Regulation in 17 Member States and facilitated networking among the national and international institutions, seed trade associations, and seed certification agencies for seed delivery. He held the positions of Acting Executive Director and Acting Director of Research Innovation at CORAF. He became a Consultant of the AfDB-funded Savannah Zone Agricultural Productivity Improvement Program (SAPIP; 2018-2020) in Ghana before joining AfricaRice in April 2020 and in July 2023 joined the TAAT Clearing House. Dr. Asiedu was a Member of the International Seed Testing Association-Seed Vigour Committee for two terms (2000 to 2008), and a member of the Association of Official Seed Analysts, USA, among others.
