Ses recherches portent sur l'application de l'\u00e9dition du g\u00e9nome CRISPR\/Cas pour d\u00e9velopper des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s d'igname naines avec une architecture et une r\u00e9sistance aux maladies am\u00e9lior\u00e9es, soutenant ainsi la production durable et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire en Afrique subsaharienne.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Avant de rejoindre l'IITA, le Dr Kaniganti a \u00e9t\u00e9 sp\u00e9cialiste en transformation et \u00e9dition de g\u00e9nome des cultures \u00e0 Rothamsted Research, au Royaume-Uni, l'un des instituts de recherche agricole les plus anciens et les plus prestigieux au monde. L\u00e0, elle a dirig\u00e9 les efforts visant \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper et \u00e0 optimiser des protocoles de transformation \u00e0 haute efficacit\u00e9 et des syst\u00e8mes d'\u00e9dition de g\u00e8nes CRISPR\/Cas9 pour le bl\u00e9, le riz et le soja. Son travail a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la mission de Rothamsted de fournir des strat\u00e9gies d'am\u00e9lioration durable des cultures gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la biotechnologie avanc\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Elle est titulaire d'un doctorat en biotechnologie de l'Universit\u00e9 Osmania, en Inde, avec des recherches men\u00e9es \u00e0 l'ICRISAT, Hyderabad, o\u00f9 elle a mis en place des plateformes d'\u00e9dition du g\u00e9nome pour le sorgho r\u00e9sistant \u00e0 la Striga. Durant son doctorat, elle a suivi une formation avanc\u00e9e chez Corteva Agriscience en Iowa, aux \u00c9tats-Unis, o\u00f9 elle a travaill\u00e9 sur les technologies de transformation du sorgho, acqu\u00e9rant une exp\u00e9rience pratique de l'industrie dans la r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration v\u00e9g\u00e9tale et l'optimisation des pipelines d'\u00e9dition g\u00e9n\u00e9tique.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Les domaines d'expertise du Dr. Kaniganti comprennent la biologie mol\u00e9culaire v\u00e9g\u00e9tale, la transformation des cultures, la g\u00e9nomique fonctionnelle et la bio-informatique. Elle a publi\u00e9 des articles scientifiques \u00e9valu\u00e9s par des pairs, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 lors de conf\u00e9rences internationales et encadr\u00e9 des \u00e9tudiants et des chercheurs en d\u00e9but de carri\u00e8re.
